Since 1984, the Encinitas 101 MainStreet Association has organized this event, filling the Coast Highway with over 450 vendors selling a variety of items, including handmade goods, art, and food. It provides an excellent chance to find unique gifts and support local craftspeople, all while experiencing a festive mood with live music on four stages, children’s activities, and a beverage garden.

It serves as an ideal prelude to the Encinitas Holiday Parade, which takes place the following day. This gathering is more than just illuminating a tree; it is a community event featuring music, speakers, food, and an appearance by Santa Claus.
The focal point of the evening is the impressive Heritage Tree, a Norfolk Island pine planted in 1952 that now stands over 90 feet tall.
